Lake Kaindy

About Lake Kaindy (Wikipedia):

Lake Kaindy is located in the south of Kazakhstan, within Kolsay Lakes National Park. It is located 2,000 metres (6,600 ft) above sea level, 130 kilometres (81 mi) east of Almaty. The lake was formed as the result of a major limestone landslide triggered by the 1911 Kebin earthquake forming a natural dam. It blocked the gorge and was filled by mountain river water. The lake contains trunks of submerged Picea schrenkiana trees that rise above the surface of the lake. The area is often referred to as a "sunken forest".

I have heard about this mystical lake as a child, but have not gotten a chance to visit it in person just yet. This environment study was close to my heart and taught me a little more about my homeland. The Asian spruce, Picea schrenkiana, everpresent in my hometown of Almaty, was fun to recreate in SpoeedTree 9. I decided to use this study to get to know World Creator 2 better and am very happy with this tool and will be using it for terrain and biome generation from now on. Quixel assets such as rocks and grasses helped give the scene some more visual variety with minimum effort.
